Walt Sterrenberg is a 37-year resident of Arlington Heights. He grew up in Chatsworth, Illinois, a farming community of 1,200 people 100 miles south of the village. He attended Kansas University [2022 NCAA basketball champions (sorry for the bluster)] and held finance and investment positions in his 40-year career which included 20 years at Allstate Insurance. He is married to the former Village Nurse, Mary Sterrenberg, they both retired in 2022. They raised 3 children, all graduates of Prospect High School, and have 6 grandchildren.
Walt was active in youth sports, coaching basketball, soccer and softball for the Arlington Heights Park District and Arlington Heights Youth Basketball Association (AHYBA). He also served on the AHYBA board for 18 years in various positions including president. He is a member of St. James Catholic Church and volunteers for its PADS program. Salute, Inc. is another organization Walt solidly supports. He joined the Arlington Heights Senior Center, Inc. in 2022.
